What is this event?
RotaryWalks! is 7K non-competitive walk-a-thon sponsored by the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club. You can visit the BBRC website here.

When is it?
Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 9:00 am with post-walk festivities until 12:00 noon. Registration/check in begins at 7:00 am. More race day information is available here.

Where is it?
The walk will begin and end at the Bellevue City Hall. You can get more information on the route here.

Who can participate?
Anyone who would like to get some healthy exercise and help raise money to support youth and community programs that encourage healthy lifestyles among young people. There are no age restrictions or other limitations and participants may walk by themselves or as members of a team.

Can a minor register and walk by himself/herself?
Yes, as long as the registration form has the required parent/guardian signature/acknowledgement, a minor can walk unaccompanied by an adult.

How much does it cost?
An individual, age 13 and above, who registers on or prior to April 15 will pay $25.00. An individual, age 13 and above, who registers after April 15 will pay $30. Children 12 and under walk FREE.

Why is there a handling fee for credit card registration?
While we like the convenience of online registration and the ability to charge the registration fees to a credit card, each transaction costs the BBRC 4.75%. When multiplied by the number of entrants, the total amount for credit card processing can be very large, and it is money that is better spent towards the BBRC’s goal of promoting healthy communities and raising awareness of healthy lifestyle choices for children.

The handling fees are small and range from $1.20-$1.45 per credit card transaction, depending on the type of registration. The handling fee applies only to the registration fee, not to any tax-deductible donations you make.

Can I donate to the cause without participating in the walk?
Absolutely! If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation, you can do so online using your credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover).

You can also download the walk registration form and fill out the top portion with your name, address, and phone number, ignoring the center portion that is walk-related, and fill in your donation amount in the bottom left portion of the form. Then either provide your credit card information on the form or include a check for the amount and fax or mail the form as necessary to the fax number/address provided. If you have any questions, please call 206-203-1880 or email
rotarywalks@bbrc.net.

How do I register?
You can register online here.

You can also print out a
registration form and mail or fax the completed form, along with your fee, to:

        BBRC “Rotary Walks”
        PO Box 3003
        Bellevue, WA 98009
        Fax # 206-203-1880

How can I pay?
By a check made payable to “BBRC Foundation Rotary Walks” OR with your Visa, MasterCard or Discover.

What if I would like to participate but cannot afford the registration fee?
The BBRC has commitments from generous individuals and companies who will "sponsor" the registration fee for anyone who wants to participate in the Walk but who cannot afford to pay. If you feel you fit into this category or know someone else who might, fill out the registration form and write "Sponsorship Request" at the bottom of the form, and mail the form to BBRC Rotary Walks address on the form. You may also fax the registration form to 206-203-1880. We are sorry but we cannot accept sponsorship requests via the online registration.

Are my contributions tax-deductible?
The BBRC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, therefore your contributions will generally be tax-deductible donations. However you should always seek the advice of your own tax professional regarding the tax treatment of your contributions. Some or all of your registration fee may not be deductible to the extent you receive valuable goods and services. The organizers estimate that the fair market value of goods each participant will receive at the event will be approximately $24.00.

How will the proceeds from the event be used?
The BBRC has a long tradition of sponsoring healthy communities both locally and around the world. Our goal is to combat child obesity and raise awareness of healthy lifestyle choices for children.

Your contributions may be used to feed the hungry, support homeless families, combat polio, provide clean water to children in developing countries, combat child obesity and juvenile diabetes.

I'm sponsoring my daughter's girl scout troop. Will my contribution cover everyone? What do they need to do to get registered?
First of all, each $25 you contribute will sponsor one walker 13 and aobve (12 and under walk free). If there are additional children whom your contribution does not cover, we will use general donations we've received to sponsor those (first come, first served).
Just as important, each child (under 18) will need to complete a registration form and have it signed by a parent or guardian.

How do we know who among our family and friends is signed up? How do we know if our extra donations have been credited?
That information is all captured from the registration form, if it's filled in properly. We hope to have an individualized report soon that will help you track that information.

Can participants run instead of walk?
Yes, that is okay, though we'd like you to start at the front of the pack and observe whatever safety precautions the City of Bellevue will be taking along the course.
